Dr. Matthew Petrie is an ecologist, ecohydrologist, and professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I was hired on for a total of six months to help create visual reports of his research, presentations, fact sheets, and scientific diagrams. I was able to work with external partners like the US Forest Service and US Geological Survey.

Scientific Diagrams
This was my final project in this position. I created scientific diagrams of various ecosystem types for the USGS's SOILWAT2––"a process-based ecosystem water balance simulation model."

I was given some parameters and ideas for content and went to work on the illustrations, design style, and color pallet.
Principal Investigator Fact Sheets
These were made to give a synopsis of the type of research and topics each investigator had expertise in. The fact sheets were sent out to government agencies and other relevant organizations.
Sierra Ancha Experimental Forest Fact Sheet
This fact sheet was made to give background information about the USDA Forest Service's Sierra Ancha Experimental Forest in Arizona. The fact sheet was adheres to USDA design/branding guidelines.
USFS Ponderosa Reports
Dr. Petrie does reach on ponderosa pine trees and wanted to make summaries of his research to disperse to USFWS offices throughout the south western US. We made a total of seven visual reports summarizing his research, and presentations to accompany each of them. Click the buttons below to see the final results of these documents.
